Weddingskeywest.com

My daughter Jessica and Tyler Lockwood got married at the Eden House this past December and it was amazing. I couldn’t have imagined that it could be so wonderful, cosmic and refreshing all at the same time. It was a year in the planning……..that Dylan quote comes back to mind. We’re all glad it’s over and wouldn’t change a thing. Then again, Ernie Banks use to say, “let’s play two.” It was so much fun that Elizabeth and Jessica are going into the wedding business. The new web site is weddingskeywest.com Yes, another brain fart. Wish us luck. If you or a friend needs any help with a wedding, big or small, check us out.
Brady just turned two months on the young meter. Elizabeth and Chris are on cloud nine. I only hear him cry when he hears my voice. I have a strange affect on adults too.

Haiti

Haiti

I want to start off by thanking everyone for all the support you have given the people of Haiti. It is hard to believe that Haiti could get any worse off and then BAM! If it weren’t for bad luck the people of Haiti would have no luck at all. I sent some shirts over that were just on the verge of making a come back…in style, that is. They would have been HOT when the sequel to ‘Dance Fever’ goes into production in 2015. Yep, that’s why they were on the first Coast Guard Cutter leaving Key West. I’ve often heard the line, if you haven’t worn it for X amount of months get rid of it. Their time had come.

Pasha

Pasha

Pasha is entering her 12th year with Eden House. She is such a special person person and has meant so much to the Eden House and our guests it is hard to put into words. She always seems to to remember when a guest wants an extra pillow or blanket and has it in their room when they arrive. She has been known to go to yard sales and pick up an item or two for a guest’s child and have them in a cardboard box when they next return. This is just Pasha . I have been kidding her for years that her English is getting worse. Little does she know, I’m not kidding. She always has a smile on her face and the glass is always half full for her.

Verulix

Verulix

With the weather you guys are getting up there you might be interested in the Verilux Natural Spectrum lamp.  I might add, it has been damn cold here lately too.
I have sent one of these lamps to my sister in Michigan, Heather Clark (glass girl working on her Masters Degree in Portland, Oregon) and my daughter when she was in Olympia, Washington.  They work great and you only need an hour or so exposure a day.  I also recommend taking a high dose of Vitamin D daily too.  ‘D’ is the new wonder drug/vitamin and is good for anything and everything.   Check it out on the web – there is lots of info on it and all good from what I read.

Anyone out there using this lamp or one like it and have an opinion to share?  Stay in touch, Mike

Esquire Magazine

Esquire Magazine

Like the book of matches says, “close cover before striking”. Well, “set down before reading.” This article will blow your socks off as well as the doors. Push on through to the other side. Esquire is one of my favorite magazines and the price ain’t bad either – $8 for 12 monthly issues (lots of lists too). December is my favorite issue, which includes the BEST & BRIGHTEST 2009. If you have the time and are so inclined, send the article link to your congressman or woman and tell them to get off their duff and get on board. The train is leaving the station. Stay tuned.

Paste Magazine

Paste Magazine

Yep, the music. Walked through the lobby today and caught J.J. Cale’s, ‘Crazy Mama’ from his album/CD, “Naturally” (1971). Does it get any better than that? Moving on to the topic at hand, Paste Magazine.
I used to get this magazine in the hard copy and loved it. Now I get it digitally and love it even more. Check out this site for a plethora of music, video and movie information and lots of worthless lists. I especially like the lists. The ‘best of this or that’. Free downloads too.

See ya, Mike

Poop Bags

Poop Bags

I have been criticized from the powers that be that my blog is often inappropriate and/or irreverent. Well, here I go again. Last night I was out walking my daughter’s dog, Detroit and I had a brain fart. Should I be picking up Detroit’s poop in a plastic bag or a biodegradable bag? Should I be putting his poop in a bag that will outlive me (fossilized poop) or an environmentally appropriate bag? I rushed home and ordered ‘poop’ bags from these fine folks at www.poopbags.com. I went with the BioBag Rolled Bags since Detroit is a small dog and I am not transporting a lot of poop. This is just a though and I wanted to mention it. You do pick up Rover’s poop, don’t you? (an exercised dog is a happy dog and the walk will do you good)

John VideoJohn at Eden House

John at Eden House

As promised – John Frinzi’s latest CD, “Shoreline”.  John  has just released it and it is a ‘keeper’ (ain’t throwing this one back).  Tom Corcoran co wrote several of the songs, adding to his bag of tricks.  You can listen to the cuts and purchase the disc from CD Baby within the next month (I hope/think). The music sounds like it was wafting through the streets of Key West in the 70″s.  John will be preforming at the Eden House during happy hour on November 1st.  Does it get any better than that? Cold drinks and good music.

French Toast

French Toast

We, at the Eden House are saddened to hear that Michael, Drew and Azur will be moving on.  For the month of September that is.  Yes, the boys are taking off the month of September to recharge their batteries and come up with some new ideas to make Azur even better.  I can’t imagine how….let’s wait and see.  Boys, keep the lavender creme brule on the menu or circle the wagons.  Have a nice vacation and we’ll see you the
first of October.

Mr. Clean

Mr. Clean

Mr. Clean is one happening dud. His Magic Eraser that is. Has anyone out there ever used these squirrelly little things and/or have an opinion on them? They are white 3 by 5 inch sponge objects and are amazing. Go with the PRO model, they last much longer. The commercial says ‘three times longer’. Just wet them and your dreams have been answered. You can clean canvas, leather, sports shoes, walls and on and on and on. We are using them in housekeeping and my daughter uses them in her classroom. I have used them on my spiffy canvas MBT’s and a leather bag. WOW! Let me know what you think of them. Got to get back to my cleaning. See ya
